Once upon a time, an Arabic prince built himself a palace. He then decided that he wanted to share the kingdom experience with people around the world, so he transformed the palace into a hotel, and built himself another palace.

I’m not exaggerating or painting a picture. The eighty-five hectares Emirates Palace Hotel was literally built for royalty in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. Now as the world’s first hotel turned landmark, Emirates Palace Hotel welcomes diplomats, celebrities, families, and friends for a more than opulent stay. It’s also acts as a glamorous venue for international events, conferences, exhibitions, and a trendy bucket list check.

Stay

Guests can book one to three venue suites overlooking the sea or the city. My own balcony hovered over the 1.3 km private beach, where I later zoomed on from the lazy river and pools to a dock of yachts. Basking in the perfectly warm January weather, I made it a point to wake up early to see the view before heading down. Just looking at it made me smile, so much so that the day before my flight, I convinced a hotel employee to give me a cheeky tour of the Diamond suite while catching dusk over Abu Dhabi.

Although too busy touring Abu Dhabi to make time for the spa, the therapies and treatments of the Emirates Palace Hotel luxurious wellness center are world-renowned, partnering with Amra, Forlle’d, Bastien Gonzales, and Gentlemen’s Tonic.

Eat

Can’t afford the royal lining and butler service?  Reserve a booking at one of the fourteen restaurants, cafe lounges, and bars at the Emirates Palace Hotel. My haven is the outdoor terrace and salmon eggs benedict breakfast at Le Vendome.

Play

Whether checking out the world’s first gold ATM (yes, it dispenses gold) or one of the concerts at the 2,400 guest ballroom is your prerogative, Emirates Palace Hotel is fun for all ages. If the private camel rides, sailing, and art displays aren’t enough, take a tour for the most lavish Arabic architecture where even a staircase is your next Instagram post.

Experiencing my first seven star hotel is something I will never forget. If you can’t stay the night, it’s worth gallivanting about just for looks. A warm thank you to the Emirates Palace Hotel for a most special occasion. I’d flown in business class with Etihad Airways and toured Abu Dhabi with Hala Abu Dhabi. Cheers to CheapOair for all of the recommendations. You have superb taste!
